NewAge names no spacing figure for the VersaRac (opens in a new tab): it describes installation on standard wood joists or studs, refers you to the manual, and offers a longer bracket on the VersaRac Pro for irregular spacing. So 24 inch spacing sits inside what two of these makers state for their own hardware, and that is the whole of what it establishes. The second question, whether your ceiling, its framing and your chosen attachment can carry the installed rack, is not answered by any spacing number. It belongs to the current manual and, where anything is uncertain, a qualified professional.

Overhead rack product pages often reduce installation to one line about joist spacing. A real garage may also contain trusses, engineered framing, drywall, insulation, electrical cables, plumbing, attic access, and a door opener.

Record what you can observe

Stop when observation becomes diagnosis
